With only 5 days to go until we head to the USA for a month of golf, food and leisure, checklists are being checked, our spare room has turned into a packing facility with bags, clothes, chargers and cameras piled up.
Our dog, Pippy, is starting to realise something is going on and frequently checks out the luggage to make sure it does not look too ready to depart.
In amongst the usual angst in preparing to depart is a building excitement though.
This is our first trip to the USA and with an itinerary that covers Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi & Louisiana. 16 rounds of golf on 16 different courses, a paddle steamer cruise down to New Orleans from Memphis and a list of eateries to check out. This will certainly be a trip we won’t forget quickly.
We fly from our home city of Auckland, New Zealand to Houston where we will spend a couple of days getting over the flight and settling into holiday mode. From Houston we will fly to Mobile Alabama where we are self-driving part of the Robert Trent Jones Trail. https://www.rtjgolf.com/
At approximately the halfway mark of our trip we will end up in Memphis where we will be joining a number of friends as part of the Memphis to New Orleans Mississippi Golf Cruise. https://www.trendsettertravel.com.au/cruises/memphis-to-new-orleans-mississippi-golf-cruise-lateapril-2020/
Over the next few weeks I’ll post about the courses and restaurants that we experience along with some tips for travelling with Golf Clubs.
